50,000 students are at risk if Atlanta Public Schools loses its accreditation…….
Atlanta Public Schools are waiting to see if they will be stripped of their accreditation. The board has been bickering over who should be in control of the school system after the removal of chair Lachandra Butler. The school board has been broken into two groups. Some feel the removal of Butler is legal and it is time to move on. However, the other group says the actions taken to remove Butler were illegal and the situation needs to be rectified. Atlanta School Board member Reuben McDaniel believes the only way to settle the matter is in court.
If the school system loses their accreditation, students maybe denied acceptance to college. The board was given a December 1st deadline to resolve the matter or lose its accreditation.
