SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. (AP) — Authorities say a Sandy Springs man is due in court to answer charges that he killed his girlfriend’s pet dog during an argument and used the animal’s body to beat the woman.
Fulton County prosecutors say Emmanuel Alfredo Tadeo is charged with aggravated assault, animal cruelty and battery in connection with the May 19 confrontation.
A hearing is set Thursday for Tadeo. Prosecutors said Tuesday the man could enter a plea.
Authorities say the man was beating and kicking his girlfriend at her apartment when her small dog came to her defense. They say Tadeo killed the dog and used its corpse to beat the woman.
Tadeo is in jail. The female victim, Andrea Jill Armintrout, was charged with misdemeanor obstruction after police say she stopped cooperating with investigators.
