DECATUR, Ga. (AP) — A former DeKalb County teacher has been sentenced to three consecutive life terms plus 10 years for molesting teen boys.

Former Miller Preparatory Academy instructor Casey Thomas received the sentence in a court hearing Friday. He was convicted of 17 counts, including aggravated child molestation, cruelty to children and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

DeKalb County District Attorney Robert James said the 37-year-old former teacher “is a predator and rightfully deserves to spend the rest of his life behind bars.”

Prosecutors said the crimes occurred between December 2010 and April 2011 while Thomas was teaching. They said he met his victims at the school.
